MCGUINTY: SHOW UP AND APOLOGIZE

Elliott calls for McGuinty to apologize to the Legislature for gutter politics

(Queen’s Park) – PC MPP Christine Elliott called on Dalton McGuinty to show up in the Legislature today and apologize for insulting opposition members of the Legislature last week.

“Dalton McGuinty used gutter politics last week to attack the opposition,” said Elliott. “He has tarnished the reputation of all members of the Legislature and completely damaged the political process. Dalton McGuinty should apologize to the Legislature and the people of Ontario.”

Throughout last week Dalton McGuinty and his Minister of Citizenship and Immigration responded to legitimate questions about calling in the Auditor to probe millions of dollars in grants by playing the race card. On Friday it appeared McGuinty accepted he was wrong and issued a statement late in the evening but the statement didn’t include an apology or any regret for a week of unfounded allegations against the opposition.

Dalton McGuinty isn’t scheduled to appear in Question Period today. His public schedule notes he has “Toronto appointments.”

“Dalton McGuinty didn’t have the character to apologize last week but he should apologize today,” said Elliott. “His actions were completely beneath the office he holds. All members of the Legislature and Ontarians deserve an apology.”
