ELLIOTT GIVEN TOP JOBS IN HUDAK SHADOW CABINET
Hudak selects Elliott as Deputy Leader, Health Critic
(Queen’s Park) – Leader of the Official Opposition, Tim Hudak (MPP Niagara West - Glanbrook) is pleased to announce that Christine Elliott, MPP for Whitby-Oshawa is appointed to the positions of Deputy Leader and Critic to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
“Christine Elliott is a proven champion for those with special needs and working on behalf of those less fortunate,” said Hudak. “Her passion for helping families affected by mental health and addictions as well as her understanding of Ontario families and their increasing demands for health services, makes her an excellent fit as Critic for the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.”
Hudak added, “Working with Christine Elliott as Deputy Leader, I know she will leave no stone unturned and will ensure every step is taken to expand our Party, and prepare to defeat Dalton McGuinty in the next election.”
“I am pleased to accept the positions of Health Critic and Deputy Leader,” expressed Elliott. “I look forward to beginning my work in these new roles immediately, and am excited to work alongside Tim Hudak towards defeating the McGuinty Liberals in 2011.”
Under Dalton McGuinty, Ontario’s taxes and government waste have hit new heights. Meanwhile, on Dalton’s watch, Ontario lost 330,000 manufacturing jobs, became a have-not province, and has a record $18.5 billion provincial deficit.
“We need innovative ideas grounded in conservative principles in order to get Ontario moving,” said Hudak. “Together, united and strong, we can focus on the issues that matter to middle-class families, defeat Dalton McGuinty and the Ontario Liberals, and bring prosperity to our province.”
"The people of Whitby-Oshawa are fortunate to have an MPP of the caliber of Christine Elliott representing them in the Ontario Legislature," Hudak said.
